2019 SIG Hockey Tournament

The Tenth Annual Sigma Chi Hockey Tournament

This year's tournament will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from approximately 9 AM until 6:00 PM, at which time the post-tourney banquet and social begins. We have reserved 2 NHL-sized pads at the CAA Center (formerly the PowerAde Centre) in Brampton, Ontario and the Real Stars lounge that is accessible for food and beverages throughout the day.

Once again, six (6) all-Sigma Chi teams will be vying for the coveted Connable Cup. Our Most Valuable Player and Most Sportsmanlike Player trophies will also be awarded at the post-tourney banquet.

    Undergraduate Player - $25.00
    Alumni Player - $125.00
    Non Player/Spectator - $30.00

All above registration costs include dinner. Player registration costs also include lunch, as well as minimum 3 games with the opportunity to progress from round robin for top teams.

Please note that registration is not complete until both (A) payment and the (B) registration form have been submitted. We cannot 'reserve' spots, so please complete both the payment and registration form at the same time.

Optionally, you may choose to sponsor an undergrad's attendance at the tournament by filling out the form below under the Sponsor an Undergrad section. If you wish to be formally recognized, please untick the Anonymous checkbox, fill out the rest of the form, and submit it. To process the sponsorship cost, please then click on the Add to Cart button in the same section.

If you've never played in this tournament before, keep in mind that we have Sigs from ages 18 to 65 playing, and brothers with all levels of skills and experience (including some with none at all). There is a spot for every brother in this tournament, no matter if you're a beginner or if you've played Junior A, Travel, or Rep hockey.

The teams are created to ensure a balance of skills and experience, so every team has a chance to hoist the Connable Cup. For that reason, we do not accept registration of whole teams. Registration is on an individual basis only – though if you have a son, a father or an old buddy you haven’t seen in years – please include your request to play with a specific brother in the comments section of the form. We do everything we can to honour those requests.

Some important notes regarding this year's tournament:

  1. Your PLAYER registration cost includes lunch and dinner. It also includes a player supplies kit with water and power bars. It's ALL-IN! What's more - every player is guaranteed three games, with the best teams then advancing to the finals where the Connable Cup awaits the victors.
  2. If you are registering as a NON-PLAYER / SPECTATOR, your registration cost includes dinner. The atmosphere is electric, no matter whether you are rink-side or situated warmly in the Real Stars lounge directly overlooking the main rink, you will have a great time and be supporting a great cause.
  3. Players need to provide their own equipment. The tournament rules and insurance requirements stipulate that all players must wear full protective equipment including a CSA approved helmet and chinstrap. However, all players are strongly advised to wear full facial and neck protection, including a CSA approved cage or visor, and a helmet with chinstrap and chin cup. All players will be required to wear their tournament-supplied team jersey, though socks are not provided and players should bring their own. We recommend white or black socks, as they will look best in team photos.
  4. If you are travelling to the Greater Toronto area from out of town, we can recommend the Marriott Fairfield Inn in Brampton as this hotel has offered the best rate, and includes WiFi, complimentary continental breakfast, and is close to the venue.

NOTE: Player registrations are not complete until both payment and the registration form have been completed. You can contact Shawn Boyd (shawnrossboyd@gmail.com) if alternate payment arrangements are required.
